The origins of the Eastern European University of Applied Sciences in Bialystok date back to 1993. This was when the Higher School of Finance and Management (WSFiZ) was established. In 2022, the academy merged with the Higher School of Physical Education and Sport (WSWFiT). This created a new university – WANS. Its head office is located in Bialystok and branch office is in Elk.

We are a university creating a new chapter in the history of Polish higher education. We can boast of a world-class teaching base. For many years we have been ranked high in national rankings of private universities.

We employ qualified academic staff, who set high standards of work and contribute to the growing stature of our academy. We also attach great importance to internationalisation, which supports the teaching process at the university. We have been conducting international cooperation with educational institutions on the basis of bilateral agreements for many years. Our university is regularly visited by lecturers from the United States, Germany, Finland, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Lithuania and many other countries.

We cultivate an ethos in which to learn, grow and succeed. Our students gain knowledge and skills in classes taught by experts in their fields. At the same time, they improve their language skills and undertake business placements in companies and state institutions. Our university is also adapted to the needs of people with disabilities.

Students from abroad are keen to study at WANS – from countries such as Turkey, Spain, Portugal, Kazakhstan, India, Nepal, Germany, Ukraine and Romania. The fact that they have chosen our university out of many academies in the world is the best recommendation for us.

Our graduates easily find permanent employment in companies in the region and all over Poland. Surveys confirm that they enjoy their work and meet employers’ expectations. Moreover, many of them successfully run their own companies.

  • In the academic year 1999/2000, the University adopted the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), which allows students to continue their studies in any European Union country.
  • Since 1 May 2004, when Poland became a member of the EU, WANS diplomas have been recognised in all EU countries.
  • In 2015, the University was accredited by the official accreditation body of the Polish Accreditation Commission.

In 2023, the University will celebrate its 30th anniversary.
